With the onslaught of new "Standard" action DR cartridges some look very interesting on paper. Let me begin by saying I like belted cases because they are headspaced on the belt which is very good for a DR rifle (another subject). Therefor, the .400 H&H gets 9/10 in my judgement on several marks: belted, 40 Cal., long neck and low pressure. They only reason for not a 10/10 is its really long. In the 40 caliber class, the .416 Ruger looks promising. Not perfect, but maybe 7/10. My gripes are it's neck is too short and the shoulder is tiny. It's what the .416 Taylor should have been. Regarding the .375 - I can't praise my .376 Steyr enough, well though out and executed design. BUT, have you seen the .375 Blaser Magnum? I like it, more neck would be better, but it aint too bad.
