vapodog, I can't attest for the new production Zastavas, but I do know there are a lot of newly manufactured rifles of US descent that are cheap ass. My Weatherby in 338 Win Mag I'd put in that category, as well as a recently purchased Remington rifle. Time was when these were more solidly built. Point is, if Zastava has downgraded their actions, it may be they're following somebody else's lead across the pond. Again, the Mark X I own is a well built rifle. Time will tell if the new Zastavas have departed their sound pedigree. Based on the one I own (manufactured '82 or '83) I wouldn't hesitate to invest in a new Zastava Mauser action.
