I've not seen any of the new ones, but in the 50's and 60's they had a tremendous reputation. At least in NZ anyway.

Dad bought one in 1958 and put it on a featherweight 30/06, and shot several hundred deer with it. He gave it to me on my last trip down there. It has quite a dent in the eyepiece where he fell on it once. He swears he heard glass break, but it was still clear and held zero, so it was used for many more years. It has absolutely no finish left and is covered in scrapes, so I will have to find something fitting to mount it on.
