I have hunted everything with a 416 Remington... My favorite bullets are the 400 gr. Nosler, 380 gr. Northfork and I like the 450 gr. Woodleighs very well...for solids I like the Northfork or GS Custom flat nose.. One of my very favorite bullets for everything is the Northfork cup point monolithic. I have shot Buffalo, Zebra, Impala, Hartebeeste, Wildebeest and warthog with it and it worked like a charm...I also used it in the 375 and in the 404 jefferys this year. If I am hunting where elephants, Lion, Buffalo, etc. are known to be around, that is the bullet that I will be using.. The 340 gr. Northfork is a heck of a Bison, Elk round I have been told, but have not used it... Bill Dowtin used the 240 gr. 338 Win. Northfork bullet and shot a Bison lengthwise and the bullet broke the heavy shoulder and came to rest in the hip perfectly expanded, that is some kind of penetration...he also broke both shoulders as I recall on a big bull elk with it. |
