Thanks for the info guys,i got to see a 416 Rigby Safari, very well built. The xl action allows you to have an extra round in the mag(Rigby style) and the action is double cross bolted. The barrel has a solid qaurter rib on it with 1 fixed blade at 50 meters. The wood is exhibition grade(about blaser grade 9) and had very dark and dense grain and was highly figured at the comb only being set up for strength,it was typical english Rigby style, shadow line etc. This was a very well balanced rifle and felt exactly like a holland magnum mauser i had.The only thing i didnt like was the shinny barrel, but as these are custom built one at a time then you could have a cold rust finsh Also the action was the smoothest i have ever tried better then a mannlicher. These run at around 12.000 nz dollars(around 10.000 us) and the wait is about 14 months. If i hadnt known better id think this rfle was made by holland and holland,i have owned 2 magnum mausers in 375 built by hh and this was identical to the royal i had which was made in 1913. Now the only thing i have to work out is to go with a 416 Rigby or a 450 Rigby.cheers Mark. |
