I should clarify... the ACTION is a 1918... the gun itself has surely seen several iterations. It is a 1918 oberndorf Mauser 98K. I do not know if it was an 8mm or 7mm originally, but i suspect an 8mm. it is now a 35 Whelen and it doesn't feed very well, and that troubles me. I bought it from Jim Dodd last winter, love the gun, love the round... really not pleased with the feeding... my dad's 30-06 Mauser feeds like butter... its not even funny they are so different. I don't think its the length of the cartridge either at 3.32" its well below max-spec. still going to kill bambi with it though! those are all impressive lists... but this is only the second gun I've bought, so I figure I have a lot of time to work things out! |
