Re: 378 Weatherby users ?

I had a client from California bring one out , for water buff. It worked well he was using 300 grain factory ammo cant remember what projectile. Dropped a nice bull with it.
I had a couple of shots out of it and hated the stock, with the high humped cheeck piece. Recoil of the bench wasn't that bad but it was very quick. Thought I had escaped without injury until the blood flowed from my nose and forehead. Now Im a slow learner so I stood for the next shot, and copped it again my clients thought it was as funny as......
There was plenty of eye relief and I hadnt crawled the stock. I put it down to the stock design.
Had a oportunity to use a left handed 378 at a later date, set up similar to the rh 378. Shot great and didnt turn into me like the rh one. Didnt even look like hitting me.
Price and availability of ammo in aus at the time was very expensive and hard to get . Ended up getting a 458 instead of a 375 / 378.
If you like the weatherby cartridges go for it. Just a bit more than the 375H&H. With the premium projectile available now it should work fine on big game. Hope this helps Mick
Ive got some 35mm pics of the Weatherby eybrow, and his buff. Should buy a scanner.
