I just returned from Zim, where I shot everything with my Merkle O/U 9.3x74 using 286 gr. soft Woodlieghs. I took the Cape with one shot double lung, bullet smashed ribs on the far side, the Zebra, broke the front shoulder and peferated the heart and lungs, did not recover the bullet. The only failure I had was the Eland, I hit him behind the shoulder and high with a raking shot. The bullet skipped along the ribs and ended up along side the neck spine and had to be finished with a second shot by the PH after tracking for miles and miles. The Wildebeast, the bullet entered a little far back on a slight quartering shot but angled through the lung on the far side and exited. The wart hog, also quatering away and a long shot entered behind the ear and exited between the eyes. The Impala went down with a shot almost straight on taking out heart and lungs. All in all very pleased with the 9.3 and Woodlieghs. I think if I try for Eland again I will use solids however .
