So are two cross bolts the norm or one ok ?. ![]() Seems the convention is for one cross bolt up to 9.3x62mm chambering in the ZKK600 and two for anything chambered in the ZKK602. Brno ZKK wood was often very soft and split easily... there was apparently a fire in the Brno company wood store in the late 70's, which may have been a blessing in disguise as most of the old poor timber stocks literally went up in smoke! Which would explain the sudden increase in quality as they had to source new supplies. Early Brno stocks also don't take checkering very well unless you flood the area with two-pack marine grade wood sealer after stripping the old factory finish. Once it soaks into the raw checkered timber and goes off rock hard, it enables the new checkering to be cut crisply instead of just tearing the grain. Anyway this is getting OT from your original post, I'll start a new thread on the restoration of my 9.3x62mm... the orginal gunsmithing was well done but the rifle has obviously passed through several uncaring hands before mine ![]() |
