Tom, As Adam’s posting was referring to a second hand rifle I assumed your comments regarding prices also related to the second hand market. The difference in second hand value between H&H and C&H guns is proportionally much greater than the difference between the new prices (at any point in time). Glad to hear you had chance to have a good look in the H&H gunroom. A couple of weeks ago I was able to inspect a double 4 bore rifle from the H&H ‘museum’. Very inspiring with nearly all of it's original finish. Adam, Have you contacted C&H to see if they have any record of your friend’s gun? Try info@cogswell.co.uk Or http://www.cogswell.co.uk For information on the firm a good place to look is the ‘Internet Gun Club’ (Historical database section). http://www.internetgunclub.com/general/history.php This is an excellent website. As regards actual value – well that depends on your local market. In general, although it would be worth far more than a similar grade/condition Parker-Hale rifle (even if it was actually made by P-H) the price would be a little nearer to P-H than H&H.
