I have a Model 70 as a 404 and I love it, a few things to consider with this conversion are new magazine box and follower as the 375 one will make life difficult. i have struggled with mine for years and have finally gone bugger it and am buying a SMP unit that will hold 4 down in standard guise.

secondly a bit of metal will need to come off the feed rails normally and a new extractor claw may be useful too.

Mine is on the very cheap still using the bottom metal and 375 mag box but it does work. As above a RUM would be heaps better place to start.

404 is the best compromise large medium IMO, light, easy to shoot and hits with real authority too.
