The Watts was a good one. Straightened out .375H&H Mag brass. Was a decent shooter. I 1972 I shot a presentation grade Pre-64 Winchester that was factory chambered for the Watts by Winchester. According to the owner, they were the first rounds fired from it. 4 shots split the beautiful stock - too bad. The ammo was loaded with 600gr. Barnes solids but I don't remember the load. The only difference between the Lott and the Watts is the sloping chamber of the Lott, so there isn't an edge to scrape the bullets fired from a .458 Win Mag round. With handloads using today's powders, the .458 meets the factory Lott ballistics. |
