I don't know what No.1s used-to be like. I'm a relative newcomer to all this. But, I do know that I like my No.1 (.450/.400 3" NE). It is the only one I've ever laid eyes or hands on, actually, and has served me very well. I think it represents excellent value, and is almost one of the cheapest >.400s money can buy. Naturally, I have a few gunsmithing plans for it, but all things considered, I'm most happy with it.
