Re: .416 Taylor

Oddly enough, the EXACT same load of 2206H in the Taylor gets me about 2300 fps, this is what has lead me to believe I have a slow/tight barrel, also slugging is proved it is very tight, just something I either live with in the Ruger, or I get rid of that barrel and get a Pac-nor, which I should have done in the first place.
The Ruger and Taylor barrels are even consecutively serial numbered, the Taylor is Stainless and the Ruger Chrome-moly, identical profiles and lengths.
I have since found out said barrel maker laps his stainless barrels, but not the Chrome Moly ones, which will account for some variation, also the reason behind the "fire-lapping" comment.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a speed freak at all, as long as I can get the minimum velocity required to make the power factors for Big Game target events, I'm happy.
Never been one to load the crap out of anything.

I apologise for any comments in jest re the Ruger cartridge, I do actually think it should be a great performer, and I like the look of it. I shouldn't make those comments from one experience, bad form.

I am using Woodleigh 400 and 410 grain soft points, and have a stock of 400 Taipans as well. will try to get some Bertram's, and I'm waiting on the Bullet Factory to gear up as well.

Regards,
David
