Guys went out today to try some 400 and 340gr loads using AR2206H powder The 400gr frontiers pushed by 76 grs AR2206H averaged 2361 Fps for 5 shots with no sign of pressure and, I was able to seat the bullets to the cannelure with no compression of the powder Although the case was full. I was also able to get a crimp on the projectile which I wasnt able to do before due to the bullet seating to far out from the cannelure and causing what to me was excess compression. The 340 gr woodleighs pushed by 80grs 2206H averaged 2584 fps easily with no pressure sign and no compression to speak of. I am reasonable happy with these velocities from a 20" barrel. I will work up a bit more to see how it goes before excess pressure dictates to back off but If I can average 2400 fps with the 400grs I will be happy and wont push any harder. These loads were safe in "MY RIFLE ONLY". I would suggest you work up to them slowly in your rifle. |
