Re: The difference between big guns and little guns explained

This goes from "It's fun to knock the fat kid about" to "I want my Mummy"! Good on Casey. Interesting that a girl intervened to calm everything down.

The fact that Casey got the punishment for defending himself says a lot about the way Western society is going. If this had been an armed confrontation between adults and Casey had dealt with the agression and walked away (which is what he did) would US law have convicted him of anything? Perhaps our US contributors could comment? I'm genuinely interested.

In Canada Casey would have been charged and most likely convicted of assault causing bodily harm, then did a stint in Juvenile Jail if this was his second offense or the court deemed him 'dangerous' to the other kids. Of course, only the bully's friends would be interviewed with adults present. First offense, he might not get 'time'.

Here, it is now an offense to use 'excessive' force to defend onself or one's family & depending on how good your lawyer is, you may or may not be convisted of using too much force IF you cause an injury.

Here, a child of 7 in grade 2 was expelled from a public elementary school for pointing his index finger as if it was a handgun. It was not 'aimed' at an individual but perhaps 'next time' it might be??? This is called 0 tolerance & readlily accepted by the school teachers - virtualy all here. Bloody Hell.
