It was just this reason for high priced bullets he had me chamber a .308 barrel to .303 on a P-14 for him, so he could use his beloved .303 with 220gr. Hornady's at 2,200fps.




I'm in Australia ... using a 30cal barrel is a smart idea. Even here, I can source Sierra 220gr projectiles at $50 per 100 compared to Woodleigh's $39 per 50. The Woodleigh is a much better projectile, but at sedate speeds its a bit of overkill. I'm currently doing a Lee Metford carbine restoration, and if the SMLE barrel that was fitted isn't a shooter after its lopped and recrowned, then a fresh 0.308" tube profiled like a Lee Metford will be fitted.
