According to NECG:

"This mount is available as a special order from two suppliers; Recknagel and EAW. The front base of each of these is screwed to the action, if holes are not currently in the front ring the action must be drilled and tapped."

... which is, of course, what JJ from Champlin told me about the EAW swing mount. I'm wondering if maybe the mount you have is supposed to be screwed into the receiver, but in your case it just isn't?
