I’ve been keeping records of the costs of the reloading components that I add to my inventory, and have worked out how much each round costs for the rifle cartridges that I own (as I buy new stuff the price goes up – earlier low prices “shandy” the costs down). Here is what it currently costs me per bang for my more popular loads, in order of ascending cost (reloads unless otherwise indicated): 458WM: 44c (405gn Westcasting lead, 1000fps) 8mm: 48c (ex-mil range round “ready rolled”) 8mm: 52c (range round) 308Win: 59c (range rounds, my hunting loads would be more) 458WM: 63c (500gn Westcasting lead, 1600fps) 30/06: 66c 8mm: 78c (hunting load) 375H&H: $1.17 (350gn Taipans) 375H&H: $1.60 (300gn or 350gn Woodleighs) 458WM: $1.69 (400gn Woodleigh PP) 458WM: $1.73 (325gn Hornady) 458WM: $1.73 (500gn Woodleigh PP) 375H&H: $2.43 (300gn Barnes) 458WM: $2.58 (500gn Woodleigh FMJ) |
