Update. Today I aligned the express sights with the Hornady factory 400grain DGS's. I have recieved a white dot replacement front sight from Brownells which makes alignement with the rear folding leaves much easier. POI is now spot on at 25 yards. If my eyes deteriorate any furthur I will order up Recknagel aperture and get the higher front sight required. IIRC it needs to be 8.5mm not 6.5mm. I replaced the scope and there was nil, I'll say again nil, change in POI useing the Recknagel roll off mounts. At 25 yards POI was 1/2" exactly above POA and at 100 yards 1 1/2" above POA. Hunting Schneider has very kindly loaned me a PAST shooting shoulder pad (man bra). Six rounds of .416 Rigby and 21 rounds of 9.3x62 were much easier to fire off. I have never tried to get different loads to shoot to the same point of impact before. When I start reloading for the .416 I will be trying to get cast and Woodleigh jacketed soft points to shoot to the same POI as the DGS. I am very happy with the accuracy of the Hornady factory ammo. My RCBS 350 grain FN mould and 1,000 Hornady Gas Checks also arrived today and I hope to start casting soon. |
