Grandslam are Speer bullets. Ammo companies use other makes of bullets, for sure. Perhaps if he knew what loading cost, he might go that route. Hmmm - $179.00 for 20 rounds - $8.95 each. Let's see in actual cost for components. - $3.00 for the most expensive bullets sold here - $0.30 for powder - $0.05 for primer - $1.60 per case = $4.95 per round Still seems high, but it adds up with the premium bullets & new brass. Looks like reloading might be the better way to go - no case cost after the first and with range pickup, none when using short or long mag brass. Bullets are expensive - but - that cost can be reduced to a mould and WW metal for factory duplication ballistics. Lube is cheap maybe a penny per case. How much shooting can a person do at those costs for factory ammo? No wonder people who shoot only factory ammo shoot so little. bullet = $0.00 lube-- = $0.01 powder = $0.30 primer = $0.05 case-- = $0.00 total handloaded cost per round = $0.36 Yeah - that looks better. |
