Re: weatherby 416 magnum ??s

Hi Kos,
I had a 416 Weatherby for about 5 years and as I'm a PH in Africa it got lots of work. Personally I found it to be a great (left handed)action on long shots etc, but that's not what I wanted it for. I needed a short range charge stopper. I found that the bullet was travelling so fast at exit it didn't have time to expand/perform before it exited. Finally I had 2 instances with (charging) wounded Buffalo that almost got me killed. Added to that the muzzle brake made me go completely deaf for 24 hours on one of the actions.

Eventually I took the rifle to a South African gunmaker who recycled the action into a .500 Jeffrey. Now THAT'S a rifle!

Whilst I appreciate that what I now have would not suit most people it surely does the job for me.

Cheers
