I've scanned most of the threads on building 404s but still have some questions. Here is what I am planning: Action: Pre-war Winchester Model 70 (currently 30-06) Barrel: Krieger, 24" with 1:16" twist, #5 contour Bottom Metal: Sunny Hill, drop .375H&H Remaining Metal: 1/4 rib, swivel band, undecided on standing/folding rear sight configuration and front sight Stock: Duplicate early 20th century Westley Richards style My main questions are: Is the traditional 1:16" twist fast enough or should I consider going tighter? Is the #5 contour too light (I'm aiming for a 9 pound weight)? Thanks. |
