Neale, It will mainly see use at the range, but I'm hoping to be able to get back in the paddock a bit more this year, and I'll just have to take this one and try it on something. I'm a little disappointed about the mismatch of the mounts, scope etc. You would think Leupold could get the colours right for their scopes and mounts. No problem with your stock at Darryl's, it does feel really good, I think it will be a really comfortable stock to use, nice to hang on to and I think you would have absolute control of the rifle with it, and it is going to be a strong stock, I'd expect it to last forever. Your piece of wood has got the grain running perfectly for this stock. I could mount the rifle with closed eyes, open them and be looking right down your sights when I opened my eyes, plus if you wanted a low mounted scope, I think that would work as well, you would still have plenty of cheek weld with it. John Bishop had a look at it as well yesterday, he's bigger and a lot taller than both of us and is an English rifle and shotgun freak, his comments were "perfect, don't change anything". I reckon you will be happy. Give me a yell anytime if you need me to have a look again, but I'd expect it to be finished in a couple of weeks. David. |
