Re: Winchester Model 70's in .375, .416 Rem, and .458 Win!

My late and dear friend Lester H. Hawkes of Kalispel Montana had two M70's that he purchased in 1952 from Winchester, both .375's. Both rifles came with 2 1/2X Lyman Alaskan scopes. One was bobbed to 22" and became Les' guide rifle on the T-Bar-3 Dude ranch (I think that was the name). The other remained unfired until I become friends with Less whilst wearing Red Serge in 1972. THOSE were hunting rifles par-excellence. One, the non-shortened rifle with 25"(I think) factory length barrel is curently owned by another of Les' Canuck friends.
