I am seriously considering ordering a barrelled chrome-moly Left-Hand Montana action in 375 H&H. It seems like a great deal and an affordable way to avoid all of the possible problems of an "over the counter Model 70". This seems like, without a doubt, the best deal going. This is the email response I got from Montana Rifleman: "A chrome moly barreled action would be $911.00 A breakdown of that price is $490 for the action, $150 for the barrel, $136 for chambering, threading and install,$120.00 for blueing and $15 for shipping." I've got a few more questions for ya'll: Should I send the action to a gunsmith and let him install a stock, or should I just buy a drop in stock from someone like McMillan or Accurate Innovations and do it myself? Do I need to have anything done to the action for it to be ready to go on a buffalo hunt in Africa (polishing, etc)? Will there be anything else I need to do to this action other than put it in a stock? What other problems or complications do you think I should anticipate? Thank you for the help. NitroSteel |
