We just turn the field dressed carcasses over to the families and let them make up their mind where to go from there. We have a wealth of processors in the area, as you might imagine. Our estimated deer herd in the county (ca. 900 square miles) is 20,000. My guess is that it's closer to 30,000. Our county has ranked first or second in deer harvest for the last five years.

Incidentally, deer were reintroduced to our county exactly 50 years ago. Until then, the deer herd was nil.
