Re: AR 15 ADD ON

I have a 30" BOHICA .50 BMG standard throat I got last May for $1300 (I am friends with the dealer- he sells them for $1400 no shipping). I love it. I also have an AR-50 and I like them both the same. They each have their benefits and neither is what the McMillan I used to shoot (wish I still had it) was. It easily shoots 12"@600 yards 3 shot groups with French remanufactured ammo I got from Cheaper than Dirt. I have yet to shoot it farther as really I bought it on a whim and only occasionally play with either 50. The BOHICA has about 50 rounds through it. As far as the BOHICA goes I would dedicate a lower to it as the design requires the removal of the bolt catch or a custom one to replace the existing. I had a few stripped lowers around so it was nothing to build one up for it. I am going to add about 2 lbs to the stock just to balance it as the A2 stock is so light it makes it very muzzle heavy. I have shot it with a 5 position CAR stock and do not recommend that as it has no recoil pad and is even lighter. Recoil is like any 50 BMG. I was thinking of buying another one to build a custom 700 of some sort, but my dealer sold his last one so I do not look at it and hear it calling my name anymore, maybe someday.

If I could only have one I think it would be the AR-50 as I like bolt position on the AR-50 better and it is a little easier to cycle but if I could not afford the extra $1000 for it I would have no problems with the AR conversion. I would certainly say I liked the McMillan most however! Next I am going to add an Anzio I think.

Last I heard BOHICA was moving shop to expand and get a couple new employees as orders have gone way up. That is not a big surprise of course in the political climate, but it also indicates that people like their product.

Hope that helps, email if you have any more questions.
