475Guy... As I mentioned before, it seem's the more I learn, the less I knew! This season in Zim, my heavy gun will be my Dakota .450 my light rifle is my trusty and worn Sako Safari in .375 H&H.. Most would think that my hunt combo is very strange indeed. But works very well in a mixed game area with both Dangerous and plains game.. I think even in a plains game only hunt I would still use only my .375 and leave everything else at home. They are much more useful than most give credit for. I was lucky enough after a very tuff chase/stalk with several blown chances to take a nice Sable at exactly 300yds (bushnell range finder afterwards) but still handy enough to take my Impala at 50yds. The Sako's glass is a Lepould 1 3/4 - 6X with heavy reticule.. The Dakota only carries qtr rib express sights.... As you mentioned, I might have to give serious thought one day of exchanging the .375 for a 9.3 as my light rig... My dream tho, is to one day hunt Africa with original classics.. Thats where the .404 Jeff comes in that you mentioned..450 |
