I have a Ruger African and have put about 75 rounds through it. Stock has held up fine so far. It is not at all unpleasant to shoot and carries very well. Trigger is good. The trajectory of the softpoint round seems to be very close to the 180-grain .30-06. I had a stock split on a 527 CZ in 7.62X39. Hardly a hard recoiling round but the company gladly and promptly replaced it. Ruger would too. I think that with production rifles like the Ruger African you will always run the risk of stock failure... at least in the early shooting stages. For the asking price when you have a company with a solid reputation of good warranty service that is about all that can be asked. I've seen stock failures on some very pricey rifles. |
