Re: My Ceska 550 Safari Magnum in 458 Lott.

ovny

My brother and I have identical rifles to yours in 416 Rigby and 458 Min Mag.

The stock on the 416 split after 9 rounds. I got the 458 seen to before that happened (and the smith thought it likely to happen). My gunsmith bedded the barrel lug and the took a big heap of timber out from around the recoil lug and replaced it with Devcon and added much sturdier cross bolts into the Devcon. When you look at the factory crossbolts with the stock out of the action, they look very small and weak

He also lapped in the bolt lugs, tidied up the magazine rails and smoothed the feed ramp, smoothed out a couple of spots on the rear of the bolt and adjusted the trigger so it is a crisp 3 and a half pounds.

It cost me $250 Aussie dollars to have the work done, and it was worth every cent. The rifle feeds better, the bolt cycles smoothly and will put three shoots into a tiny bit over an inch, all day.

Regards

CF
