I don't know about chemical bore solvents causing problems with Barrels and there Ribs parting company with each other. But a good mate of mine "Bwana Bob" was told to stop shooting Barnes-X Bullets through his Chapuis Double Rifles. The factory believed the X-bullets, were breaking these solder joints?!?!
After Bob sent his 9.3 x 74 back to them a second time, the factory drew this conclusion.

It's well known NOT to shoot / use Barnes bullets (or those type of Monolithics) in Double Rifle's.
