I made up a brush for my 404 from a spare 12G bronze brush by just screwing the head into a collar that fitted my 30cal cleaning rod and then trimming the bronze bristles with scissors (old ones) until I got a nice fit in the 404 bore. Works well and you can trim for whatever resistance fit you wish. Would obviously be simpler to do starting with a 44 or 45 cal brush that already fitted a rod under the bore size.
