I'm looking at probably getting a Big Bore rifle pretty soon and I'm left handed. I don't have a problem shooting a right-handed rifle, but want to take into consideration the possibility of needing a fast follow-up shot on dangerous game (if I ever get the opportunity to go). The one animal that I have in mind is a cape Buffalo, I guess I've just been reading too much Capstick, but the thought is stuck in my head. I guess it's possible that I might want to shoot an elephant one day, but I'd say (and so would my wife when she sees the price) that it's not very likely. The two mainstream companies that I see selling bolts in big bores is Ruger and Winchester, though I'm sure there are others. I'm not stuck on these two, but am really not that familiar with the others and these two are definetly in my price range. The Ruger comes in 375 H&H, 416 Rigby and 458 Lott. The Winchester comes in 375 H&H, 416 Rem and 458 Win. I'm definetly not an expert in the big bores department and want to get ya'll opinions on the caliber that I need. I think I want a 416 Rigby, but I can't find it offered in left-hand. Maybe this is more gun than I need, but I don't want to ever have to buy another gun for "safari" purposes. I'll probably be using this gun to shoot an American Bison also. Please let me know your opinions. Thanks for the help. NitroSteel |
