I chose a Ruger African in .375 Ruger. I use the lighter soft point round. I've had Marlins in .45-70 and they are excellent and I had a Savage in .375 H&H. It was a real decent rifle in stainless and synthetic stock... and priced reasonably. The .375 Ruger is compact, a joy to carry, very quick on follow-up shots, equipped with open sights (I also have a Weaver V-3) on it, and accurate. Recoil is quite manageable. And I don't believe (and hope) that the round is not going to go away.
