Hard to say but Westley's best quality 425's were always made with the clips. In the early 50's they built some without the clips and they had feeding problems. I would think a good smith should be able to make it feed but it must be a person who knows their stuff. Tom Burgess in Montana comes to mind as he is an expert in this type of work.
