Actually, gun fit is probably the secret ingredient here, sadly often placed well down the list on a scope-sighted bolt-gun but in reality just as important as with an express-sighted double.

No fit: no hit!

Not to down-play the importance of practice though. As stated, only a fool would trust his own ability to the point of foregoing familiarity training on firearms for dangerous game.
