I've been shooting a 375H&H on an encore frame for a while now... anywhere from 10 to 30 rounds at a sitting, from 200 to 300 gr loads... factory and home rolled... you definately don't want to be in a low varmint shooters crouch when you touch one off but from an upright sitting or offhand position it's not bad... this is with the plastic stock and no added weight... only added a 1 1/2 X 5 Bushnell scope to it... accuracy wise I have found the heavier bullets to be the ticket... the 275 and 300 gr seem to be the most accurate at longer ranges {100-200 yds}... with Sierra 300spbt I'm averaging about 1 1/4" at 100yds... I also load 45-70's with a hardcast 405gr GC bullet to around 2000fps... this is the one to have a muzzle brake and some more weight in the stock... as for a easy packing rifle, I have a double sided break down shotgun case that I can load out 2 stocked actions and 4 scoped barrel setups in... for carrying in the woods you'd be hard pressed to find a lighter handier rifle than the encore... |
