I love my 404 but if you have the Lott already it is going to be better on Buff and can shoot flat enough for 200 yards.
Familiarity is as important as cartridge choice. Get one good 500 grain load, stick to it and practice, know what 200 yards looks like in the field, use whichever gun on all your game before you go. I used my open sighted 404 on goats in QLD gorge country, not the best choice but familiarity built up there helps when the chips are down and you will develop trust in your gear.

My 404 is pretty much the only gun I have when I go anywhere where there are good concentrations of buffalo. That is how you should be with whichever gun you choose.
