I recently returned from a ten day safari in Zimbabwe and used the .375 ruger to take seven plains game animals from impala to wildebeast. It performed exceptionally well. I have been a long time fan of the M77. I loaded the 300 grain Swift A-Frame at near maximum velocity by the data available. I had one shot kills on three impala, a zebra stallion, warthog, and kudu bull. The wildebeast took two and a finisher. Some of the shots were pushing 175-200 yards. I was quite pleased, as I had been at the range as well. I think the ruger rifle is not only a great value, but possibly the most reliable and well built hunting rifle available. I took a duggaboy and big bull hippo on land with an M77 in .458 lott as well. I have several more M77 rifles in various flavors and will surely have to have a .416 ruger. I saw the episode of Tracks Across Africa yesterday where Steve Hornady whacked the Lion and was quite impressed. I am looking forward to seeing this one hit the retailers. |
