I get 100 ft lbs of recoil in a 10 lb 505 Gibbs (which is probably about what you have) shooting 600g bullets at 2150, compared to 58 ft lbs for a 416 Rigby shooting 400g bullets at 2400 fps. I had an extra recoil lug put on my 375 and had it glass bedded. My stock is too pretty to have it split...
