Re: .458 Lott Load

I guess my question is was it factory bedded or by a gunsmith? Mine came factory bedded and crossbolted, but the guys at AHR weren't impressed with the CZ bedding job and re-glass bedded it and added another recoil lug. And my rifle is a 375 H&H! I think the CZ makes a good foundation for a DGR cartridge that requires a magnum Mauser-type action, but it's just that, a foundation. You can send it to AHR have them do their CZ #1 upgrade and reglassbed and add a lug and still be at around $1600 (assuming you get your CZ for about $800). You'll have a real nice rifle then. You could buy a Ruger in 458 Lott, or for a 458 Lott, 375 H&H you can go buy a used pre- 62 Model 70, and then have some work done it. If you get lucky finding a good model 70, you'll come in at about the same price and the gun will be worth more.

Just my two cents,

Chuck
