The 'old' WR versus the new. I believe ownership changed at some point post WWII and WR was not loading its own ammo and Kynoch was getting more and more out of the business. Newer (post WWII) a DR builder would build pretty much what the customer wanted. The 476 was simply not as well known, and a customer who wanted a gun from WR, or any other builder, got what he wanted.
The days of H&H only building the 500/465 went by the way, and if you wanted a 470 NE or whatever, they would build it. Same for WR and others. Dave
