Daryl, I was a much better shot in my 20s, not because of anything physical really, but I would shoot 1500 rounds a year through my .243 and then later my .270 mostly varmint rounds at 300 yards. If you could hit a marmot at 300 yards consistently, then as long as you weren't winded and had a decent rest a deer or elk at that distance was never a concern. Once kids and a "real job" entered the equation shooting and fishing time took a hard downturn, never got to zero thankfully. Some riflemen are born, I'm not one of them. But almost anyone can be a good shot given a good range, the resources and a desire to be one. Regards, Chuck |
