.385 350 grain projectile.

Food for thought....

What's driving it ?

350 needs a bit of oomph behind it unless you like rainbow trajectories !!! LOL

Re: .385 350 grain projectile.

I was musing over a 350 grain projectile that could be drivin to 2400 fps with a high SD making about 4500 ft/lbs.

Something that falls between .375 H&H and .404 Jeffery.

Being a bit of a devils advocate, why .385 which
is an odd bore size.

The 378 Wby can get what you want in a standard bore size.

Yes, I know creating something new is nice, just being practical.

.416 falls nicely between those calibres and would make the 4500ft/ld. It would not be as high a SD as you probably want.

OK, now forget the practical side as that stiffles inovation. Have you a case design in mind?

Re: .385 350 grain projectile.

I have a few 350 grain .375 bullets and boy are they long.

Just out of curiosity I calculated the bore diameter (.385) for a 350 grain with the same SD as a .410 projectile.

The thought process was born out of bumping up the kinetic energy without more velocity or pressure than a 9.3x74R for double rifles.

Re: .385 350 grain projectile.

How about a 350gn .385 out of a 450 Nitro case.

A bit like a bigger version of a 360 No 2 !

All you need is a barrel and reamer maker once you pick a case. The rest is easy.
