.375 Woodleigh 350 gr. Loads

Has anyone developed a load that works well for the 350 gr. Woodleigh bullets? I am looking for a standard velocity load. Thanks

Re: .375 Woodleigh 350 gr. Loads

We have had good result with 72grns and 73grns of Australian AR2209 powder for a velocity of 2350fps out of our rifle.
NOTE; These loads may not suit your rifle.
Australian ADI powder is sold in the US under the name of Hogdon.

Re: .375 Woodleigh 350 gr. Loads

The old rule of thumb was around 74gr. 4350. I used that same load with 350gr. Barnes .049 jackets, years ago. Similar loads should work with Woodleighs.
: As with any loads at or near maximun - one must reduce 5% and work as pressure indicates.
: What is safe in one rifle, may not be in another.
: Seating depth and chamber/throat shape dictate presusr changes between rifles.

....I tested 75, 76 and 77 grs of Vihtavuori N-165......they worked quite well with 350 grains Barnes Originals (velocity not measured)...

Re: .375 Woodleigh 350 gr. Loads

You may have more time 9ThreeFifty if I decide to rechamber this month to 470 Capstick or 500 Jeffery, I've got over 100 350g solids and protected points left ... Thanks again for running the 350s through the test.

Re: .375 Woodleigh 350 gr. Loads

Thanks, Chuck!

That bullet seemed a good one, even at the lowish velocity.

.470 or .500...

The .375 just doesn't cut it? How come?

Re: .375 Woodleigh 350 gr. Loads

Well the recoil was so mild, I was kinda disappointed ... My gun's at Ed Plummers getting his CZ #1 Upgrade (M70 3 position safety, fill and straigten bolt, and new single stage trigger), he almost talked me into 500 Jeffery . My younger son (the adult supervision in the family lol) talked me out of going up in caliber until next winter. I've pretty much decided on the 470 Capstick (minimal rework, hits lots harder on the far end, not much harder on my end), if I have any 375 H&H reloading stuff left over by then it's yours if you want it 9ThreeXFifty for all of the awesome testing you've done.

Best wishes as always,

Chuck

;
; Yes - The only 4350 around when Elmer did his shooting with the .375H&H, was IMR.

Having seen pix of your .375, I can say whole-heartedly, you've got a really beautiful canvas for the new gunsmith to paint on!

Please keep us informed with the new .470 developments!
