The Inaugural NT Big Game Rifle Championships were duly held on Saturday 17th July. The event was a huge success. There were 17 registered shooters, and plenty of interested spectators. A couple of interstate competitors were included, Matt Graham from Armidale, and Graeme Wright from Brisbane, both of whom showed the locals how to shoot in several of the events! There were 9 double rifles in the gunrack, and plenty of interesting bolt-guns, including Mannlicher Schoenauers in 6.5mm, 10.75x68, and .458, Westley Richards in .404 and .275, a Rigby .275, A&N Lee Speed and Martini Enfield sporters, Scheiring break-open single-shot, .22 Hi-power Savage, and the usual .338s, .375s, .458s, etc. The shoot program can be viewed here: http://www.hotkey.net.au/~orrs/BGRC_NT_Program.htm Results can be viewed here: http://www.hotkey.net.au/~orrs/BGR_NT_Results.htm I trust our brothers across the pond will enjoy similar success with their up-coming inaugural shoot. I would strongly encourage as many as possible to make the trip to Lodi, even as a spectator. Big Game Rifle is a shooting discipline with a big future! |
