Possible failure of verification emails for new members

NEW MEMBERS

We have been experiencing some problems with prospective new members not receiving verification emails after applying for membership.

The process is:
1. A prospective member applies for membership;
2. An automatic email is sent to the member with their password with a link which they must click on, or copy and paste into a browser, to verify their email address exists. These emails sometimes seem to take several hours to be sent/received. In the past it was a few minutes.
3. If they fail to do this, after a few days (three ?) the membership times out
4. Once an email address is email verified an administrator manually examines the application and then approves it

I have failed to duplicate the problem reported and when I have tested the system several times I always get a verification email. Sometimes five hours later. The problem seems to be external somewhere on the internet.

If you are a prospective member and DON'T receive a verification email after applying (wait a day or so), please send us a manual email and we will do it manually.

Thanks.
