NitroX, Sorry I left your question out of the previous post. Well last year I shot one about 17h00 busy hunting for Impala. It was strangely alone and it dropped immetiatly with a shoulder shot using a 8x57 with a solid. There is a lot of ways that this pigs arew hunted in SA. Beaters are used in drives. Dogs to corner them. Feeding spots where potatoes and other veggies are being put out for them. At night with lights. On foot. In South-Africa they are declared as pest/problem animals because of the devastaion they cause to agricultural areas where wheat, maize, potatos, sugercane, bananas ect are planted. Their meat is excellent and probably one of the best tasting game meats I ever ate. They are a lot more aggressive than warthogs when wounded or cornered.I'll suggest a caliber nothing less than .308win. You always have the odd chance of shooting one by hunting on foot but it is really very difficult. What else buddy?????????? |
