And how does using a random hyena as a target preserve anything? Shooting over a bait is as challenging as shooting from a bench rest. How many PH's know that when they shoot a big trophy 'dog' hyena, that it is almost always a female with nursing babies down a burrow? As to the conservation-consciousness of its hunters, Zim provides the only documented example of a lion population being absolutely hammmered by overhunting for trophies. Females, juvenile males, everything vaguely resembling a lion was nailed. Helluva way to conserve anything. I am afraid that the majority of hunters, pro's and clients, think that pulling a trigger makes them conservationists. It ain't that easy. |
